Week 7 of CSA is here, and the dog days of summer are now behind us. We’re halfway through the summer CSA season already, and the farmers have put in hundreds of hours at the farm ensuring that each and every CSA bag is fresh, clean, and ready for your dinner table.
During the summer, many of the farmers are able to bring their kids to help out around the farm, or just enjoy the outdoors and play. The community at New Roots is so strong, and we always welcome new volunteers to experience it for themselves. To fill out or read our Volunteer form, check out this link!
Even though the hottest days of the summer are behind us, it’s still extremely important to stay hydrated. Water-rich fruits and vegetables help you stay hydrated, such as foods like cucumber, lettuce, zucchini, celery, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and watermelon. Those vegetables are commonly found in CSA bags, so take advantage of the hydration benefits!
Some hydrating summer recipes include this cucumber watermelon summer salad , lentil and couscous stuffed peppers, and coconut chicken lettuce wraps. If you make any of these recipes, share with us on Instagram @newrootscooperativefarm.
Have a great week!
